LONGHAND

In this body of work, I explored the notion that the history of a place remains, not just in the architecture but, in the beautiful historical documents associated with it.  They tell their own stories, and speak of ghosts. The lost art of longhand, the setting down of thoughts, beliefs and agreements, adds a poignant and evocative element to the fairly straight forward capture of a locale in a photograph.  I chose an evocative, vintage frame and hung the whole show in an “old-fashioned” salon style, in a deliberate attempt to create a referential, authentic experience for the viewer.

The print are made with archival ink on rag paper with no optical brighteners added.

They have all been enhanced with pastel, ink and metallic pigments.  Framed with all archival materials and glazed with museum glass. Each a unique work, never to be replicated.
