Killer Whale Clan

Preston Singletary and I are old friends from middle school days. We’ve worked independently to arrive at a place where we can combine our efforts into a collaborative project. Telling the origin stories of the Killer Whale Clan in both a traditional and contemporary approach.  Combining photography and glass sculpture together in a setting that is place specific to the origin story, translating the story from Tlingit to a visual language. This project is about history, mythology, community and collaboration. We are working to amplify the voice of history through our shared experience and vision. We are working with origin stories of the Killer Whale Clan in SE Alaska. Placing glass totems made exclusively for this project out into the very landscape cited in the original stories. Years in production, we are working towards a final presentation of epic proportions. An environmental installation featuring 10 x 30 foot backlit murals and glass works telling these stories.
